The Missing Story of the Individual Immigrant
Many people may believe that the media already widely covers immigrant perspectives, helping spread empathy and awareness for them through compassionate stories. However, these stereotypes can portray immigrants as pitiful and dependent, creating a burdensome image rather than provide migrants the empowerment they need for a louder voice.

While the media may be well-meaning, its frequent portrayal of immigrants as desperate and helpless creates a singular image that is easily spread through the press, easily dominating host country perceptions regarding immigration. With popular stereotypes frequently being utilised through the press, incoming immigrants will likely face increased scrutiny from citizens. Those who make mistakes are much more easily criticised and condemned for their actions, with host citizens requiring them to faultless while forgetting that immigrants too are human.
